Mohammed Rafi still continues to entertain millions around the world everyday. That makes Rafi heritage, his perfect voice evergreen and his unique legacy immortal. He was above religious, race, cast, sect, political, national and even commercial differences. He politely refused to imitate other singers in case they get offended. "Kehta hai koi dil gaya, dil bar gaya. Sahil hai pukarta, samandar chala gaya. Jo baat sach hai kehta nahin koi, keh es dunya se museeqi ka payambar chala gaya," according to one tribute to Rafi sahib by the great lyricist Gulzar. That sums up the late great singer Mohammed Rafi. So, is it fair to compare him with others, alive or dead? As a Rafi-family friend, and neighbour in London, for over 50 years, I am honoured to have met the most humble, honourable and modest man that I ever knew in my whole lifetime. Some of his best songs are available subscription free at http://www.youtube.com/spsyed – a website dedicated to the entertainers and their fans. Enjoy, comment, rate, provide feedback, subscribe, join as friends, and share it far and wide.

When people speak about RD they talk mostly about his popular songs such as Aaja aaja main hoon pyar tera, Piya tu ab to aaja, Mehbooba Mehbooba, Chura liya hai tumne, Dum maro dum, Saagar kinare, Ek ladki ko dekha etc., but the fact remains that there are hundreds of superb compositions of RD which went unnoticed, mainly because the films did not do well at the box-office. Listen to the music of these films and think again over the article you have written and you will realise that you are grossly wrong in what you are saying. Just listen to the songs of :
1) Teri Kasam (1982)
2) The Burning Train (1980)
3) Sitamgar (1985)
4) Alag Alag (1985)
5) Yeh Vaada Raha (1982)
6) Namumkin (1988)
7) Raksha (1980)
8) Oonche Log (1984)
9) Karishmaa (1983)
10) Jurmana (1978)
11) Zameen Aasmaan (1984)
12) Bade Dilwala (1984)
13) Duniya (1984)
14) Ratnadeep (1979)
15) Tum Karo Vaada (1993)
16) Shubhkaamna (1983)
17) Main Awara Hoon (1983)
18) Humshakal (1974)
19) Bulundi (1980)
20) Dhandaulat (1981)
21) Basera (1981)
22) Anand Aur Anand (1984)
23) Jaane Jaan (1983)
24) Libaas (unreleased)
25) Sanam Teri Kasam (1982)
These are only a few, I can list many more films with good songs by RD. Also, please tell me is it RD & Kishore's fault that they continue to be more popular than your other legends ? Also weren't the other legends like O.P.Nayyar & Naushad around in the 1970s & 1980S when RD was in top form ? What were they doing then ? Face it. Every composer has a good and bad phase in their careers. Both RD & Kishore struck a chord with the people when music itself was getting revolutionised. RD was the master of rhythm. He composed different kinds of music...Every song sounded different...even the orchestration was different for each song...there was no monotony. The other legends refused to accept change...RD was a favourite of both Kishore & Rafisaab. He gave them his best songs which continue to be more popular even today.

Radhe Radhe :-)

I am looking for transliteration of Ashtadash Siddhant. I don't need translation, but I can't read the Hindi script. It would be good to read the words sometimes while I am listening to it at work.

hai, to all critics & well wishers of HR - the Rocking saregamapa guru. Iam strong follower of HR. I luv his singing & mostly I like his attitude to get the things we want in life. HR is hardworker alongwith great ideas & concepts ever any singer would have got.
his merits : too many. Best being raising from small soaps director to an Actor......

his demerit : under one episode of saregamapa he created sympathy towards contestant- ms. vaishali ,I do hate that.i thought now hr has become grreedy & influential & think himself that everyone is below him. My friend hr never in life feel yourself too great,we are human not God, be the best human.

suggestions to HR : plz do not let ur fans think against u, U R the Best but never think that U R only the best. So, keep on giving your good music's& songs. Desparately waiting for it.
I pray GOD for your success & Health.

Jagjit Singh, you are wonderful, the best i love in Gazals, but Jagjit Singh you have cought on the wrong side, A.R.Rehman is one the best music composers, there is nothing which he cant compose, I have heard a lot of his hindi, telugu, tamil compositions. Jagjit Singh you are wrong this time, dont dare to bet on Rehman, there is nothing he cant do. He is the best composer as you are best Gazal singers. Please dont compete with the masters of music. For your information you should know how Rehman came up in music....
